Story of Gogo(Granny) Dorris Mabuza

Doris is a grandmother, aged 75 and she is looking after her 3 grandchildren that have all been orphaned. She is a very positive and energetic lady, despite her own poor health circumstances. Doris and the children are beneficiaries of Topsy’s projects.

Having a vegetable garden was for a very long time just a dream. Topsy helped the family to create a vegetable garden – fostering good health and sustainable food.

Topsy Foundation brought a fence to assist Dorris to establish and protect her new garden from the hungry animals. She has very good soil, everyone was eager to help her to make it work.

After 2 months of work, she and the children could enjoy the fruits of her hard work. She is so proud and thankful. When I asked her how she felt about her garden she replied, “I’m so happy, I want to roll and roll and roll”. This is Dorris’s way of explaining her happiness because where she stays; happy animals roll on the grass!
